DR. COURTNEY TRACY
LCSW, PSYD, CCTP, C-PD
Licensed Psychotherapist & Mental Health Expert
Hello, my name is Dr. Courtney Tracy and I've dedicated my life to understanding and improving the mental health of my fellow human beings. As the founder of Truth Doctor Media, I pride myself on creating content that is informative, entertaining, connective, relatable, and inspirational.
Born and raised in Dana Point, California, my journey into the world of therapy began when I left for college at 17, embarking on a 12-year educational path that included earning four degrees. In direct response to a major mental-health-based family trauma that occurred in 2019, I began creating therapy-related content on social media as “The Truth Doctor” (@the.truth.doctor). My initial mission was to dismantle what it meant to be a therapist by telling the truth about what it means to be human—that we all struggle, we all function mostly the same way, and we’re all in this together.
I hold an A.A. in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Math and Science from Santa Barbara City College (somehow survived these years), a B.A. in Psychology from Cal State Channel Islands (magna cum laude), a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California (Dean’s Honorable Mention), and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Cal Southern (summa cum laude).
People often ask me how I became the top mental health “influencer” in the country—winning several awards, including the American Influencer Award for Wellness Influencer of the Year and two inaugural Anthem Awards in Health Leader of the Year and Best Health Strategy for online content. The truth is, it was completely accidental.
People were pleasantly surprised (some shocked) and appreciative that a mental health professional was sharing such vulnerable stories about her own mental health disorders and healing journey. I’ve never been able to connect with people any other way… unless in the therapy room (that’s not my time, it’s my client’s).

I owe much of my perspective on life to my personal experiences and the way my brain and body work as a human being—gifted, autistic-ADHD, borderline, traumatized, and born into poverty. This has shaped my belief in the power of knowledge, the development of “meaning” and “self”, and the resilience of human consciousness.
Entering my second decade as a clinician, I’m focused on helping individuals struggling with borderline personality disorder, mental health issues, and substance use disorders. The first 10 years of my career were focused not only on healing others, but also on healing myself. Now, I understand my place in the mental health field, and feel confident in how I help others heal—unconventionally, truthfully, humanly.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Max, and in 2025, we celebrate twenty years together. We have two young children and pride ourselves on treating them compassionately. We know we’ve brought two more good humans into the world. I made my first social media post on my son’s first birthday, with the intention to make the world a good place for him, too.
My life today consists of balancing being a mother of two, the founder of four mental-health-based companies actively running, a media expert, author, podcast host, and person who also needs to sleep, eat, learn, grow, and have fun. It’s… a busy (and happy) life.
Truth Doctor Media has evolved into a platform that tackles some of the most difficult mental health challenges, including personality disorders, neurodivergence, and addiction. My aim was to spark genuine, insightful, and thought-provoking discussions about mental health, moving beyond common labels and stigmas.
Starting this platform was a risk, but I put my heart and soul into it. Now, with a growing audience and positive feedback, I see that it has made a meaningful impact.
Thanks for reading. I hope to meet you soon!
